The 2024 CAPR Annual Report is now available. We’re proud to share our accomplishments from 2024 and are looking forward to even more in 2025.
As CAPR’s CEO, Bob Haennel, noted, there were many important milestones:
I’m proud of what our small yet mighty team has accomplished. This past year, to expedite the exam process and the transition to practice, CAPR doubled the Physiotherapy Competency Examination (PCE) offerings from 5 to 10. We also streamlined all credentialling processes, adopted digital documents, and removed notarization requirements, resulting in a 10-week reduction in credentialling timelines for Internationally Educated Physiotherapists (IEPTs).
We successfully launched a new pre-approved credentialling pathway to the PCE. This new pathway streamlines the application process from certain jurisdictions and confirms IEPTs’ eligibility to write the entry-to-practice exam sooner, thus allowing CAPR to focus more time and resources on applicants who require individualized assessment.
Most recently, the Canadian territorial and provincial regulators1 have agreed in principle to using CAPR’s new entry-to-practice examination, the Canadian Physiotherapy Examination (CPTE), launching in 2026. By having one standard, we can ensure critical knowledge is assessed consistently, resulting in harmonized professional requirements.
