Schedule for new Canadian Physiotherapy Examination
Each exam date has an alternative ‘overflow’ date, in case candidate volumes exceed examiner or proctor availability. Keep both dates open for the month you apply. We will contact you 8 weeks before the exam and tell you which date your exam is scheduled for.
You must apply through the Client Portal by 11:59 ET on the application deadline. You cannot apply for an exam or reschedule into an exam if its application deadline has passed.

Special application for the January 2026 examination
The January exam has a maximum capacity of 120 candidates.
Of these candidates, 100 must be Canadian-educated physiotherapy graduates who
- are taking the exam for the first time, or
- have passed the PCE Written Component but have not yet taken any other exam process approved by a Canadian provincial physiotherapy regulator.
This allows CAPR to ensure fairness and accuracy in determining the pass/fail standard for the new Canadian Physiotherapy Examination.
The standard setting process relies on performance data from this group – the “reference group”, and it is chosen because it most closely reflects the expected competence level of new, entry-to-practice physiotherapists trained in Canada. Using this group helps us establish a valid passing score.
The fee for this exam is specially discounted to $1500. If you are interested, please let us know through this survey, not through the Client Portal.
If we select you for the January 2026 exam, we will email you within 3 weeks of you completing the survey. At that point, you will be asked to apply for the January exam through the Client Portal.
Candidates who take the January exam must fill out a feedback survey after the exam.
Fees for the new Canadian Physiotherapy Examination

From February through December 2026, the discounted fee is $1800
For all other candidates, the fee for this exam is $2500.
