- The Written Section is comprised of multiple-choice questions (MCQ) and media-enhanced MCQs (e-MCQ).
- The Oral Section is comprised of structured cases.
The outcome (pass/fail) for each candidate is determined by their combined performance on the Written and Oral Sections.

Candidates will receive feedback about their performance after attempting the CPTE, regardless of whether they pass or fail.

- complete the credentialling process through one of the established credentialling pathways, and,
- complete the CPTE.
Candidates must finish their entire educational program before taking the exam. This ensures they have completed all required courses and learned all the necessary skills before being tested.
If your Administrative Reconsideration or Appeal is granted and it concerns your third and final attempt at the PCE, you will be granted one additional attempt in the future. You may use this additional attempt for either the PCE or the CPTE—whichever you choose.
No, it is not possible to change your exam appointment time after you have received your Exam Appointment Confirmation email.

No, CAPR does not accept requests for specific exam appointment times.
CAPR understands that some candidates will take the exam from locations outside of Canada, and will assign such candidates to appointments that correspond to reasonable local time appointments to the extent possible within the limits of the times zones in Canada.
