Today, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Dave Clements as our new CEO beginning in December 2025. As our incoming CEO, Dave is a visionary and strategic leader who will bring deep expertise, leadership agility, and the oversight needed to guide CAPR through its next phase of growth and innovation.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dave as our new CEO,” said Dale Pitura, President of the Board of Directors. “His strategic insight, bold leadership, and collaborative spirit will be an asset to CAPR as the organization strengthens its role in supporting a modern, responsive regulatory landscape and continues its innovation in evaluation services.”
With nearly 30 years of leadership experience in Canada’s health care sector, Dave has dedicated his career to inspiring innovation, collaboration, and excellence. He started his career with the British Columbia Ministry of Health and went on to hold senior roles in federal organizations including Health Canada, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), and in the office of Canada’s Minister of Health. He was also the Executive Director for the Federal Advisory Panel on Healthcare Innovation and spent nearly a decade with the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation, where he provided oversight for programming in areas including knowledge translation and executive training.
Dave transitioned to higher education at Queen’s University, first as Executive Director in the Faculty of Health Sciences, and later as Executive Director of the Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic). Throughout his career, he has maintained a strong engagement in teaching and research related to health policy and knowledge translation. Since 2014, he has maintained an academic appointment as Adjunct Professor of Health Sciences at Carleton University. Beyond his professional achievements, Dave is an active volunteer and has served on numerous boards and committees.
Dave succeeds Dr. Bob Haennel, who has led CAPR since January 2023 and will be retiring at the end of the year. We are deeply thankful to Bob and his remarkable leadership as we pivoted to a new governance model and a new working relationship with regulators, and developed our entry-to-practice assessment services via Evaluation Services Re-envisioned.
As we begin this next chapter, CAPR looks forward to Dave’s guidance and expertise, and the impact his leadership will have on the physiotherapy profession and community.
