Written Component Change: Exam Structure

Update

After each administration of the Written Component, CAPR asks the candidates who participated to complete a Candidate Feedback Survey. The survey aims to gather quantitative and qualitative feedback about the exam.

We’ve heard your feedback, and are excited to announce that, starting January 2025, the Written Component is getting a refresh to better meet your needs.

The four-hour exam will now be divided into two parts, with an off-the-clock break in between. Each part will have 100 questions and will be two hours long.

Here’s what you can expect:

The same question distribution: both parts of the exam will have the same structure – 90% vignette-based questions and 10% stand-alone questions; this ensures consistency and familiarity between the old and new structures, and across both parts.

A more candidate-friendly format: Taking a break during the exam will no longer be deducted from your exam time; this gives you a chance to take a breather or use the washroom with less stress.

This change reflects our commitment to your well-being and to providing you with the best possible experience on your journey to becoming a physiotherapist in Canada.
