TOP 10 THINGS
CREDENTIALLING CLIENTS
SHOULD KNOW
You can complete the credentialling process from outside of Canada.
The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy (CAPR) does not have citizenship or residency requirements for credentialling clients. If you begin the credentialling process before coming to Canada, you can get a head start on your physiotherapy career before you arrive.
You can create a profile in the Client Portal before you apply for credentialling.
Before you apply or send documents, create a profile. You will then be given a Client ID that you can put on your documents.
Include your Client ID on your documents.
You and your institutions must write your Client ID on your documents. You can submit documents to CAPR without your Client ID, however, documents that arrive without a Client ID can create delays.
Check to see if we can accept digital documents from your school.
Go to our website and check the ‘Country Specific Documents List’ in the ‘Required Documents List’ on the ‘Providing Documents’ page.
Your name in your profile must match your name as it appears on your identity document.
Your full name, including middle name(s), must match your identity document. All your names must be present and in the same order. Not including all of your names can cause delays.
If your name on your school documents is different than the name on your identity document, you must submit a proof of legal name change document.
For example, a marriage certificate. If you do not have a legal name change document, contact credentialling@alliancept.org for assistance.
CAPR accepts Canadian government-issued driver’s licences.
Driver’s licenses issued outside of Canada do not meet our requirements and will not be accepted.
You must complete the language test requirement before you can become eligible for the Physiotherapy Competency Exam (PCE).
You can complete your language test at any point in the credentialling process, but we encourage you to do it as soon as possible (even before you apply!) to prevent delays.
You must complete your Knowledge of Physiotherapy Practice in Canada course requirement before you can become eligible to apply for the PCE.
You can complete the course at any point in the credentialling process, but we strongly encourage you to do it as soon as possible to prevent delays.
Your assessment timeline is not based on when you apply, but when we receive all the documents we need to start your assessment.
Your file is placed in the queue for assessment after we have confirmed we have all the documents we need. Visit our website for our current assessment times.
